Evidence and public interest

Mijas Karting noise near Sunset Views and Los Pacos

Residents are documenting noise, intrusive floodlighting, operating-hours concerns and visual impact beside a rapidly growing residential area.

Noise

Engines, repeated acceleration and high-pitched tyre screeching can make balconies unusable and intrude into homes.

Operating conditions

AAU/MA/04/18 includes a mandatory 14:00 to 16:00 closure and separate winter and summer closing times.

Residential development around the track

Sunset Views Phase 2 is closer to the karting track than Phase 1, creating a reasonable concern that some homes could experience similar or greater exposure. Phase 3 is farther away and may be less affected, although neither future impact has been officially measured.

At the new multi-storey Luminal Homes and Ocean Garden developments, the local topography and reduced screening at height mean upper-floor apartments may experience greater exposure than lower floors. Actual conditions cannot be known until the buildings are occupied and measured. Existing photographs and recordings come from Sunset Views Phase 1 and are not predictions for any particular property.

Our long-term objective

Permanent closure at this location

Our ultimate objective is the permanent closure of Mijas Karting at this location. In our view, its continuing noise, intrusive lighting, visual impact and wider environmental disturbance are incompatible with an increasingly residential area and its exceptional natural setting.

Immediate enforcement, reduced hours, noise controls and a new acoustic assessment remain essential. However, residents believe these measures cannot fully resolve the fundamental conflict between a karting track and the surrounding homes.

Who runs this site?

This independent project is maintained by an affected Sunset Views resident using official documents and resident-supplied evidence. Dates and times are checked against the original files.
